Start with the basics

  1. Clean gently

Remove everyday dust with a soft, dry cloth.

  2. Let moisture dry naturally

Blot with a soft cloth. Air-dry away from direct sun and heat.

  3. Test before conditioning

Check compatibility, then test a small hidden area first.

  4. Protect between uses

Keep the leather away from sharp objects, solvents and direct heat.

How to clean your leather bag

For everyday dust and surface dirt, wipe the leather gently with a soft, dry cloth. A regular light clean is the starting point; there is no need to soak the leather.

If a mark remains, do not work through a series of household cleaners. Check the care instructions for your specific product or ask our team before applying a treatment.

Before you condition leather

Check that the conditioner is suitable for your leather and follow the conditioner’s own instructions. If you are unsure about a finish or formula, contact our team before using it.

  1. Test on a small hidden area first.
  2. Let that area dry and check its appearance before treating more of the surface.
  3. Apply with a soft, clean cloth. Once dry, buff gently with another clean cloth.

Follow your product’s specific care instructions rather than assuming one treatment or timetable fits every leather piece.

If your leather gets wet

Blot moisture with a soft cloth, then let the leather air-dry at room temperature in a ventilated space.

Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heaters, hair dryers and other direct heat. Do not put the bag away while it is still damp.

If a water mark or stain remains after drying, ask our team for guidance before trying a treatment.

How to store your leather bag

Choose a cool, dry, ventilated place away from direct sunlight and heat. Store the bag only when it is dry.

A breathable fabric bag is preferable to plastic, which can trap moisture. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of your leather piece.

What to keep away from leather

Keep sharp objects, pens and abrasive surfaces away from the leather to reduce the chance of scratches and marks.

Do not use alcohol, harsh solvents or adhesives on your bag. Keep it away from open flame and direct heat, and do not soak the leather.

For a stain or scratch that a dry cloth does not address, contact our team rather than experimenting with an unverified remedy.

Stitching, hardware and repairs

If stitching or hardware loosens, stop using the product and contact our team before attempting a repair.

Tell us which product you have and what happened. We can help you identify the next step; repair options and coverage depend on the product and the issue.

Know your leather before treating it

Check the care instructions for your specific Nordweg piece before choosing a cleaner or conditioner. A product intended for leather is not automatically right for every finish.

If you are unsure about your leather or a proposed treatment, contact our team with the product and color before applying it.

Leather care questions

Can I wash or soak a leather bag?

Do not soak the leather. Start with a soft, dry cloth for routine cleaning. If more cleaning is needed, check the product’s instructions or contact our team before using a treatment.

How often should I condition it?

Use the care instructions for your specific product. This guide does not set one timetable for every leather finish. If you are unsure whether conditioning is appropriate, ask our team about your product first.

Can I use the same care on every material?

This guide is for leather. Follow the product’s own instructions for its lining, hardware and any other materials. Test compatible leather treatments on a small hidden area before wider use.

What if I notice a stain, scratch or loose stitch?

For a mark that a dry cloth does not remove, ask our team before applying a treatment. If stitching or hardware loosens, stop using the product and contact support. Include the product and color, a short description of the issue, and when it happened.
