Nomad laptop backpack

Nomad, beyond the backpack

A removable case has a simple job: carry the laptop when the rest of the day can stay at the desk.

  1. Carry the day

Pack the belongings needed across the full workday.

  2. Take the case

Move with the laptop when the rest of the bag can stay behind.

  3. Check the fit

Measure the computer, including any shell that stays attached.

That is the useful question behind the Nomad Laptop Backpack: do you want to carry your laptop separately during the day, without buying a second case? Start there, before comparing pockets or colors.

What you are choosing

On the current US product page What to consider
20-liter capacity Compare it with the load you actually take to work.
Removable laptop case Useful when the computer needs to leave the backpack on its own.
Two inside zip pockets and one outside zip pocket Decide which small things need a fixed place.
Top-grain bovine leather This is the material specified for this product.

The case earns its place between stops

Imagine arriving at an office with your full work kit, then moving to a meeting with just the computer. You can take the case out and leave the backpack in a suitable secure place. At the end of the meeting, the case returns to the same bag.

There is a trade-off. A separate case is another object to handle, and its usefulness depends on how you work. If you prefer to keep the computer in a built-in padded section and take the entire backpack everywhere, that may be the simpler arrangement for you. Neither habit needs correcting.

Look at the opening as well as the case. When you pack, leave a clear route to lift the case out, rather than putting the things you need least directly over the thing you need next.

Try the decision with the bag you own

For one workday, note where you use your laptop and what else you need at each stop. At a shared desk, that might include a charger and mouse. For a short meeting, it might only be the computer and a notebook.

Then ask: would separating the laptop from the backpack help at any of those stops? A case adds little value if you would immediately have to return for everything else. If you regularly leave your main bag behind, the choice becomes more compelling.

Our work-bag organization check looks at the rest of that routine: what needs to be easy to find, and what can stay packed.

Measure before choosing

Screen size is a starting point, not a fit measurement. Measure the laptop body, including any hard shell you keep on it, and compare those numbers with the current case measurements on the product page. Ask us if the clearance is close.

The laptop measuring guide explains the three measurements to take. Its interactive fit check covers the standalone Workplace Laptop Sleeve; it does not confirm the fit of the Nomad's case.

A bag with a specific job

Nomad makes sense when the backpack carries the day and the case sometimes carries just the laptop. If your needs point elsewhere, the backpack collection gives you other layouts to compare.
