Our philosophy

Uma Vida Boa

A good life.

Uma Vida Boa is Portuguese for “a good life.” At Nordweg, it brings together useful work, strong relationships, learning, courage, beauty, and connection to the real world.

We work hard because the work matters. We want that work to help build a life.

Useful work

Useful work

The company began with a gift made for another person. It grew through work that people found useful.

At the factory, that work becomes a bag someone will carry. Across the company, it includes helping a customer, solving a problem, and making a colleague’s work easier. Taking pride in those things is part of a good life.

Strong relationships

Strong relationships

The family is part of Nordweg’s story, and the circle is wider than the family. Makers, colleagues, customers, and partners all help give the work meaning.

Honest conversation, keeping commitments, and making time for people matter in the company and outside it.

Room to keep growing

Learning

Stay curious. A new skill, a thoughtful question, or a different point of view can change what we do next.

Courage

Igor’s proposal for Nordweg was unfamiliar to the family. It took a practical first step to turn the idea into something real.

Beauty

Notice the material in your hand, a piece of work done carefully, or the place around you. Beauty belongs in everyday life.

Things worth keeping

Things we live with

A bag is part of a working day, a trip, and the journeys between them. It should feel useful and familiar as those days accumulate.

The things we make are intended to be used and cared for. Their role is to accompany a life.

Connection

Connection to the real world

Nordweg comes from the green mountains of the Serra Gaúcha. The small towns, local trades, and family life of the region have shaped the company.

Picada Café is still where the products are made. A new U.S. chapter in Austin brings that work closer to more people, while keeping the workshop connected to its roots.

Uma Vida Boa gives the work a direction: make something useful, keep growing, and build a life with other people.
